In Their Own Words
In Their Own Words: Latino Contributions to the Wine Making Industry in the U.S. tells the stories of the Latino winemakers who participate in AltaMed’s East LA Meets Napa event.

Latino contribution to the history of winemaking in California’s fabled Napa Valley is far reaching and, like Latinos themselves, diverse. Latinos pick grapes. Latinos grow and harvest grapes. Latinos care for the vineyards. Latinos study the science of viticulture and enology at some of the best institutions of higher education. And Latinos make excellent wine.

Stories from the following vintners are included:

* Felipe Barragan of Chateau de Vie
* David Béjar of V. Sattui Winery
* Gustavo Brambila of Gustavo Thrace Wineries
* The Ceja Family of Ceja Vineyards
* Elias Fernandez of Shafer Napa Valley Wines
* Manny Frias Sr. & Manny Frias Jr. of Frias Family Vineyards
